Embark Studios has revealed a detailed preview of the Frozen Trail update for ARC Raiders, with the major expansion scheduled to arrive on October 8, 2026. The showcase introduced a broad collection of new content, including the snowy Pendola Pass region, the enormous Frigate vessel, customizable player Outposts, additional weapons, new gadgets, and a deeper weapon progression system. The update is designed to give Raiders more ways to explore, fight, and develop their equipment after reaching the later stages of the game. Players preparing their inventories for the expansion can also review their ARC Raiders Coins and other available resources before stepping into the new environment.
Pendola Pass Introduces a Frozen Battlefield
Pendola Pass is the central feature of Frozen Trail and takes players beyond the familiar peaks surrounding the Rust Belt. The region is built around an icy mountain setting containing several distinctive locations, including an old Italian village, an observatory, and a buried train depot. These areas provide new places to search while creating additional routes and potential encounters with other Raiders. At the heart of the region is a fallen Emperor machine containing rare technology. Reaching the objective will not be straightforward, because sudden Flash Freeze conditions can make the environment significantly more dangerous. Players will have to pay attention to weather changes while managing their movement, combat decisions, and extraction plans. The combination of vertical terrain, unusual landmarks, and environmental hazards gives Pendola Pass a different rhythm from the areas Raiders already know.
The Frigate Adds a Dangerous New Encounter
The Frozen Trail preview also introduced the Frigate, a colossal airborne ARC vessel that becomes a major tactical location. Rather than simply fighting the machine from the ground, Raiders can infiltrate the moving craft and explore its internal corridors. This creates a more enclosed combat environment where squads must balance their movement with the possibility of encountering rival players. Cooperation may sometimes be useful, but competing Raiders can also choose to fight over valuable opportunities. The Frigate is supported by three new ARC machine types. The Bully is a fast-moving ground enemy capable of rapidly closing the distance, while the Skulker specializes in ambushes and surprise attacks. The Hydra provides a heavier defensive threat through its multiple autonomous weapons mounted on the Frigate. Together, these additions give players several new combat patterns to learn.
Outposts Strengthen Long-Term Progression
Frozen Trail also introduces the Outpost, a customizable base positioned between the Rust Belt and the surrounding mountains. The feature provides players with a dedicated location for developing their equipment and accessing new progression options. Its Research Workstation is particularly important because it unlocks an enhanced weapon modification system. Fifteen initial firearms can reach a fifth quality tier, giving established weapons another stage of development. The modifications can substantially change how a weapon behaves rather than simply increasing basic statistics. Players may be able to add fully automatic firing modes, attach scopes, or increase magazine capacity while using elemental ammunition. This system gives veteran Raiders additional reasons to continue improving equipment they already understand and encourages experimentation with different loadout configurations.
New Weapons and Mobility Options Arrive
Frozen Trail is not limited to late-game progression. The update also expands the early-game arsenal with the Stiletto and Bantam. The Stiletto is a light-ammo battle rifle designed to provide a new option for players who prefer that ammunition class. The Bantam is a heavy-ammo snub-nosed revolver capable of delivering significant damage from the hip. Movement is also being expanded through the Grapple Hook. Raiders can use it to climb structures, move between elevated positions, descend from rooftops, and cross environmental gaps that would otherwise require longer routes. These additions complement the new Pendola Pass terrain and give players more freedom when approaching buildings, objectives, and combat situations. The result is an update that combines exploration, traversal, and progression instead of focusing on only one part of the game.
Preparing for the Frozen Trail Experience
The September 23 preview provides a clear picture of Embark Studios' plans for Frozen Trail ahead of its October 8 launch. Pendola Pass creates a new environment, the Frigate introduces a distinctive airborne encounter, and the Bully, Skulker, and Hydra expand the ARC roster. At the same time, Outposts and Research Workstations create another long-term development path, while the Stiletto, Bantam, and Grapple Hook broaden everyday gameplay options. Players who want to prepare their inventories can look at buy ARC Items as one possible resource-planning consideration before the expansion goes live. With several systems arriving together, Frozen Trail gives Raiders plenty of new mechanics to learn once the update becomes available.
